2011

As a sophomore in college, Samantha begins noticing unwanted attention from a man, Christopher, she barely knows. He starts appearing on campus and showing up at her work and classes without cause. She senses something isn't right and begins documenting early incidents.

2014

Stalking behavior escalates, despite moving cities after graduation. Samantha Samantha is granted a 6-year personal protection order. Christopher creates a fake social media account to interact with her.

2020

Samantha moves back to Michigan. Her PPO expires shortly afterward. She begins to see Christopher around her hometown, raising serious concerns for her safety.

Spring 2022

Stalking behavior ramps up. Samantha expresses fear that Christopher may physically harm her. She files for a new PPO, but the court requires a hearing with both parties. Out of fear of provoking him, she withdraws her request and plans to gather more evidence.

October 7, 2022

Samantha is abducted from her home and taken to a storage unit that Christopher had converted into a soundproof bunker. Over the next 12 hours, she remains calm, uses psychological tactics, and ultimately negotiates her own release.

October 8, 2022

Christopher Thomas is arrested following Samantha’s escape. Authorities begin collecting evidence, including the tracker and soundproof unit.

February 25, 2024

Through a plea agreement, Christopher pleads guilty to kidnapping, home invasion, torture, and aggravated stalking. He is sentenced to 40–60 years in prison.
